 Calendar of Upcoming Events

APRIL

MAY

Sloatsburg Village residents will soon be receiving a "Year at a Glance" calendar in their mailboxes. In an effort to reduce postage, paper & printing costs the Village will now only be sending this yearly calendar highlighting some important village dates. Our event flyers and seasonal updates with more in depth information will still be available on our official Village of Sloatsburg website, as well as on our Facebook page as those events happen throughout the year. QR codes for both the village website and facebook are conveniently printed on the "Year at a Glance" calendar. This flyer also provides the household & yard waste pick up schedule and some frequently requested numbers at your fingertips. As always, the village staff is available Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm to answer any questions about any of the information listed on this yearly calendar. Copies of the "Year at a Glance" calendar will be available at Village Hall should you lose or misplace yours throughout the year. We hope that this yearly calendar helps residents plan for the year, as well as provide some useful information all in one convenient flyer.

About Sloatsburg

Sloatsburg operates under New York State's Village Law, General Municipal Law, Local Finance Law, as well as Municipal Home Rule Law and the Statute of Local Governments, which grants home rule power. Except for certain required village functions, the government operates as a village pursuant to Village Law.

The Village is governed by a Mayor and Board of Trustees.  The Mayor makes all appointments which are ratified by the Board. The Clerk / Treasurer is appointed by the Mayor and supervises all Village operations through appointed department heads. Since the Village of Sloatsburg has been incorporated as a Village, the same officers govern both. This dual functioning avoids duplication of government services and costs.

Comprising of approximately 2.5 square miles, the Village is primarily residential, consisting almost exclusively of single-family, detached homes.  Zoning became effective in the mid-fifties with the adoption of the Village’s Master Plan and zoning ordinance.

Sloatsburg is bounded on the east by the Harriman State Park, on the west by the New Jersey State Park, to the south by the State of New Jersey and north to the finger lakes region.

The Village is within the districts of:

  • 17th Congressional

  • 38th State Senatorial

  • 98th State Assembly

  • Rockland County District 1 Legislator
